How to bold, italicize, strikethrough or monospace in WhatsApp

The words in bold, italics, strikethrough or monospace in WhatsApp are the only options that the application allows us to modify our text. We have two options to put these words from the application, one of them is putting certain symbols before and after the words, this option will come in handy if we usually use these formats. Another very simple option is to drop down the menu in each word or set of words.

How to bold, italicize, strikethrough or monospace in WhatsApp

The first option is to put the symbol before and after the word or set of words that we want to change the format. It is important to put exactly the symbols indicated and not to put one too many or too few, as this will cause the word to be sent with the symbol and without having been modified.

  • Change WhatsApp words in bold : We have to use the asterisk symbol (*)

Example : *hello* and it will look like this: hello

  • Change WhatsApp words in italics: We have to use the underscore symbol(_)

Example: _hello_ and it will look like this : hello

  • Change WhatsApp words to ‘strikethrough’: We have to use the tilde symbol (~)

Example: ~hello~ and it will look like this : hello

  • Change WhatsApp words in monospace: We have to use three inverted quotation marks (“`)

Example: ““““ and it will look like this : h e l l o

The second option to change the format of the words in WhatsApp is by selecting the word or words (as if you were going to make a copy and paste), after selecting the word we give the little arrow on the right or the three dots (depending on the version of WhatsApp we have) and we will open a menu of options where we let us select what format we want to give.
